INTRODUCTION
Learn to understand how construction projects are planned, organized, managed, and delivered from initiation through completion.

This course provides a practical foundation in construction management and project delivery. Through real-world examples, project scenarios, collaborative exercises, and industry practices, participants will develop a stronger understanding of how people, processes, information, cost, schedule, and construction activities come together to successfully deliver a project.

  • Duration: 15 instructional hours

  • Sessions: 5 sessions × 3 hours

  • Delivery: Live, Online, Instructor-led | 6:30 PM - 9:30PM EST

  • Instructor: Industry professional with construction and project management experience

  • Includes: Project examples, case discussions, practical exercises, and course materials

  • Completion: ABCD Campus Certificate of Completion

Curriculum Details and Participant Information

​COURSE OUTLINE
​​​​
  • ​Module 1:  Construction Management Foundations - Understand what construction management is, how it has evolved, the construction manager’s core responsibilities, major construction typologies and building components, and the broader environment in which construction projects are delivered.
  • Module 2: Project Delivery Models & the Construction Lifecycle - Explore common project delivery models, contractual and stakeholder relationships, and how construction projects progress from initiation and planning through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Module 3: Preconstruction Management - Understand the activities that prepare a project for successful execution, including scope development, design coordination, constructability, estimating and cost planning, scheduling, procurement planning, risk identification, logistics, and project mobilization.
  • Module 4: Construction Management & Project Delivery - Explore the day-to-day management of active construction, including site coordination, schedule and cost control, quality, safety, RFIs, submittals, meetings, reporting, change management, communication, and coordination between owners, consultants, contractors, and trades.
  • Module 5: Post-Construction & Emerging Industry Practice - Understand commissioning, deficiencies, turnover, documentation, warranties, project closeout, and lessons learned, while exploring emerging trends shaping construction management, including technology, digital delivery, sustainability, evolving procurement practices, and changes in the industry.
  • Assessment & Certification - Participants who attend at least 3 of the 5 classes will receive an ABCD Campus Certificate of Completion. The certificate recognizes completion of industry training and does not constitute a professional licence or authorization to practise.
